When and How to Hire Commercial Electricians
If you require electrical services done to your home, you may get confused in deciding who to hire from the different types of electricians that pop-up after searching the internet. What kind of electrician do you need? Do you hire a residential electrician or an electrician for commercial requirements?
There are many types of electricians based on their specializations. There are also different levels of electricians. It’s essential to know the types of electricians that you will need for the electrical project that you’re going to undertake.
If your electrical project is for your home, you will need to determine whether you need a residential electrician or a commercial electrician. Although both types of electricians are licensed professionals and are familiar with the Australian Electrical Standards; they each have their specializations.
Residential Electricians
Residential electricians specialize in electrical work in and around the home. They are limited to working on single-phase power supplies ranging from 120 to 240 volts. You can hire electricians for residence if you need to run Romex cables within your home or need to have additional wall sockets in a room. Home electricians will more often than not try to hide installed wires by wrapping the wires with sheathed installation and minimizing the visibility of cables.
Commercial Electricians
Commercial electricians specialize in electrical work that involves a three-phase approach. Although they specialize in working on commercial buildings, they can be hired to work on residences, especially for new house construction where they will need to plan out the entire electrical aspect of the home. An electrician for commercial needs can also run wires from the electrical posts to your home and determine the necessary voltage transformation needed to protect your home appliances from unnecessary electrical surges. Commercial electricians also specialize in working simultaneously with other home contractors as to not delay the timeline of the new home project.
If you have figured out that an electrician for commercial work is the one you need, here are several factors to consider before you decide to hire.
Experience
Experience is the most crucial thing to look for in an electrician. You should look for references from the electrician’s previous projects. A high-quality electrician will not refuse to have his or her past projects looked at.
An experienced commercial electrician should have an excellent eye to determine any problems that may arise with any electrical undertaking. He can quickly tell you the amount of work needed and the time it will take to finish the project. Because of this, you can quickly determine your budget for the costs and time when you hire this commercial electrician.
Although experienced commercial electricians are more expensive, their experience makes it easier for them to complete electrical projects.
Credentials
It’s a good thing to see if his license is up-to-date. His license should also indicate that he is an electrician for commercial requirements and not just for residential. Other credentials you may want to look for include insurance.
When you hire an electrician, you’re entrusting him to decide all the electrical aspects of your home. It is therefore vital to take the necessary steps to ensure that you’re hiring the right one for your home.
